BOARD ISSUES
The possibility of hiring a consultant to train the new 60% EEN teacher in the methods of DI was discussed at the last meeting. Chris Uelmen volunteered to seek out such a consultant and present GC with estimates for the services. This needed to be done in a timely fashion so as to get the new teacher up to speed.
A consultant was found, Tanya Galleger, with 10 yrs of teaching experience in the Direct Instruction method. She could train the new EEN teacher at a cost of $50.00/hour. (This is necessary for two reasons, we are lacking a Middle School Curriculum Coordinator, so the training would fall on Chris Uelmen, taking her away from her duties as Elementary Curriculum Coordinator; and Kathy Schaefer declined our offer for interim help at the Middle School level.)
1. The hours estimated for the training is approximately 5. Bob McNallie will have the option to hire the consultant based on the motion that follows.
A motion was made by Michael Kosorok that the GC agrees to make a request from PASS to make funds available for DI training of EEN staff up to a maximum of $500.00 in total for the remainder of the 2003 calendar year. Motion seconded by Whitney Schorr. Vote: 7 YES, 1 NO, 2 Abstentions. Motion carries.
