CKCS GOVERNING COUNCIL MINUTES

- READING OF THE MISSION STATEMENT—Gary Shmerler
CKCS will be a public education option for parents and teachers in the Verona Area School District where students will develop strong learning skills and a broad base of knowledge through the use of proven educational materials and programs, in a safe and structured environment.

III. BOARD ISSUES
- Consider approval of Middle School position as recommended by the Hiring Committee: Whitney Schorr moves on behalf of the hiring committee to recommend Jeff Houser for the 6th grade position. Seconded by Joe McShane. Vote: 9 Yes, 0 NO, 1 Abstention. The motion is passed.
- NEW BUSINESS
The issue was raised comparing the Middle School "house" versus "school" concept. Kathy Schaefer devised a schedule to accommodate the change to "house" structure and the MS staff seemed to favor this structure.
A motion was made by Joe McShane to accept Bob and Kathy’s schedule change in favor of a move to "house" structure in the middle school. Seconded by Ed Burnham. Vote: 10 Yes, 0 No. The motion carries.
- NEXT GC MEETING
The next GC meeting will be Aug. 18th,2003 at 7:30pm at the King James Neighborhood Community Center. There will be an ice cream social from 6-7pm prior to the meeting.
